Albanian Superliga: Winter Champions Crowned
The Albanian Superliga concluded its year after Matchday 18 with Egnatia officially crowned winter champions. They secured first place with a 1-0 win against Teuta in Durrës, marking their fourth consecutive victory. Teuta, however, remains winless in their last five games, mired in the mid-table. Elbasani failed to secure a win for the second consecutive match, drawing 1-1 against Tirana at home. The game was marred by controversy surrounding a highly dubious penalty award to Elbasani. This decision prompted Tirana to temporarily abandon the pitch in protest. Elbasani now trails Egnatia by four points and holds a slim one-point lead over Dinamo. Meanwhile, Tirana secured their third consecutive draw, leaving them at the bottom of the standings. They are eight points adrift from the playout zone. Dinamo dominated their derby clash against Partizani, securing an easy 3-1 victory. This win propelled them to third place, closing the gap on Elbasani to just one point. Partizani suffered their second straight defeat, ending a seven-game unbeaten run, and now sit in sixth. Vllaznia finally ended their six-game winless streak with a crucial 3-2 victory over Flamurtari. They remain in fourth place, five points clear of Teuta. Flamurtari are currently ninth and desperately need points to escape the relegation zone. Vora defeated Bylis 4-1 in a match overshadowed by serious allegations of match-fixing. Bylis goalkeeper Jeremy Vachoux controversially left the pitch in protest during the game. Authorities are expected to investigate the highly suspicious circumstances. Vora earned three vital points, moving them out of the immediate relegation zone. Conversely, Bylis finds themselves in precarious territory, just four points ahead of Flamurtari. The fight to avoid relegation intensifies for both teams. AlbanianSuperliga Superliga Egnatia Teuta Elbasani Tirana Dinamo Partizani Vllaznia Flamurtari Vora Bylis JeremyVachoux Football
