Nottingham Forest Legend John Robertson Dies at 65
John Robertson, a legendary Nottingham Forest winger and double European Cup winner, has sadly passed away. Widely regarded as the greatest player to ever grace a Forest shirt, he was a pivotal figure in the club's golden era. The Scotland international leaves behind an indelible legacy in football. Initially overlooked, Robertson flourished under Brian Clough in the mid-70s. Though not known for blistering pace, his exceptional acceleration and masterful crossing ability made him a formidable winger. He consistently tormented fullbacks, proving unbeatable over short distances. Robertson was instrumental in Forest's incredible success, securing two League Cups and two European Cups. He famously assisted Trevor Francis's winning goal in the 1979 European Cup final. A year later, he scored the decisive goal himself against Hamburg to clinch the 1980 title. Following his illustrious playing career, John transitioned into management. He spent many successful years as assistant manager to Martin O'Neill. Their partnership saw triumphs at Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Celtic. JohnRobertson NottinghamForest EuropeanCup Scotland FootballLegend
